Llandyfaelog is a very rural community made up of the villages of Llandyfaelog and Cwmffrwd, the hamlets of Glanmorlais, Idole, Pentrepoeth, Croesyceiliog, Bancycapel and Cloigyn. These are separated by large swathes of farmland.
According to the 2011 census the Community has a population of 1304 of which 56.8 percent are Welsh speaking.
Religious services are held at the four chapels and two churches. There are several businesses located in the area including a car showroom. There is one Public House, the Red Lion in Llandyfaelog
Social, cultural and community groups feature prominently in the area. Annual events include the Llandyfaelog Eisteddfod in November and the Llandyfaelog Agricultural and Horticultural show in September. Other events are held throughout the year by the Llandyfaelog Community Hall Committee, St Ishmael’s Young Farmers Club, Pensioners Association, Women’s Institute and Merched y Wawr.
Facilities for holiday makers include several Bed and Breakfasts and caravan parks. There are also several challenging footpaths for the adventurous walker!
